Right off the bat I’d categorize Boylan as a pretty intimidating root beer. Generally speaking, the root beers that I’ve come across have been inviting. Take Frostie, for instance. Everything about it is designed to get you to buy into the root beer fantasy. The name symbolizes a nice cold root beer float, the label has bright inviting colors to catch your eye. The long awaited Faygo bottled root beer. This is a real treat for me. I know that Faygo has a long running history, especially as an alternative (and vastly more affordable) to traditional brands. It’s been a pretty prominent part of my childhood. However, I’ve never had a chance to really get my hands on a bottled version of any of their pop, let alone root beer. Jones Soda Co. has recently been doing a big Made in Michigan campaign, which has definitely caught my eye; despite the company being from Seattle. Being from the so-called murder mitten, I’ve grown accustomed to the derogatory statements that accompany places like Detroit and Flint. As such, it’s really nice to see pride in the state, especially when it comes to root beer. Based on Jones Soda’s reputation, I’m really expecting this brew to be good, and I hope I’m not disappointed.
